This early stage painting shows the old city and its surroundings as seen from Mt. Zion. Huvy’s dreamy but bold style is already apparent, in the fiery edges of the walls of the city to the olive tree in a dreamy blur, stirred by the wind. ‘Jerusalem is no longer so green, but this is how it must be remembered.
